Philip Cuttell
Fine Art Fellow – Heatherleys School of Fine Art 2022-23
I am a painter and sculptor living and working in North London. I originally trained at City & Guilds of London Art School on the Historic Carving Course. I used the traditional stone working skills acquired there to develop a more contemporary style of figurative carving.
My interest is in trying to address the perennial problem of depicting the human form, and the extraordinary circumstance of living in a body, and the predicaments that flow from that. I undertook further training at Heatherleys School of Fine Art completing the Diploma in Portraiture in 2022, and completed a Post-Diploma in Figurative Painting in September 2023.
I work in oils and prefer to work from life when possible. My work has featured in exhibitions at the Mall Gallery in London and at shows at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, the Millway Medical Practice in North London and the Rainbird Gallery in Clerkenwell, East London.
