London Craft Week - Restoration and Revival: Elevation of the Hand-Crafted Surface
Thursday 14th May 2-5pm, Friday 15th & Saturday 16th May 10am-5pm
We are thrilled to be back participating in London Craft Week. This year’s event will be a series of demonstrations and talks that showcase the expertise and professional experience of our members across the whole spectrum of craft, decoration and restoration - pigment making, wood graining, marbling and trompe l’oeil, fine-art picture framing, gilding, chinoiserie, japanning, gilded botanical art, wallpaper and lincrusta restoration, stencilling, calligraphy, illumination, painting conservation and painted cloth - the original, medieval technique of ‘staining’, from which the Company derives its name.
Our event will be complemented by a panel discussion on Saturday 16th at 2pm with our very own Lucia Scalisi, Gerry Alabone, Paul Humphries and Stephen Levrant debating the art and challenge of conservation / restoration.
There will also be tours of our Hall highlighting the decorative painting and gilding by past and present Company members.
Demonstrators: Polly Bennett, Ann Bowen, Chris Britain, Joanna Brogan-Higgins, Adam Dant, Frank Holmes, Rui Jiang, Jo Mabbutt, Rick McPherson, Andy O’Connor, Alison Poon, Dawn Reader, Tony Roche, Derek Tanous, Robert Woodland
